Archaeologist Howard Carter discovered King Tut's Tomb
In 1922, Howard Carter discovered the tomb of King Tut with the funds from Lord Carnarvon. This tomb was hidden in the Valley of the Kings, were many rulers were burried. For a while after the discovrery, rumors were going around about the "Curse of the Pharaohs." On the front of the tomb was a warning for those who chose to enter. The "Curse of the Pharaohs" was rumored to be real when Lord Carnarvon died and Carter's pet canary was killed by a cobra, the Egyptian sign for monarchy. -
Qin Shi Huang's Army of Warriors is Found
In March 1974, a gathering of farmers burrowing wells close Xi'an, China faltered onto the stone warriors of Qin Shi Huang, the emperor of China, at one point. There were about 8,000 life sized stone warriors meant to protect the emperor. -
Otzi, the iceman mummy, was discovered in the Otzal Alps.
In 1991, two hikers stubbled upon the frozen mummy of Otzi in the Otzal Alps. Otzi's mummy was well preserved because of the cold conditions on the mountain. It is thought that Otzi died between 3239 and 3105 B.C.E.
