The Stock Market Crash of 1929.
The Stock Market Crash would not affect Oscar at first because his father doesn't put money into the stock market. Oscar doesn't even know what the stock market is due to his young age of ten. The tariffs were raised by the government.
Due to the rising tariffs Oscar's aunt couldn't afford the clothes from England that she previously bought. Now she has nothing to rely on for those materials, they were the cheapest. Without a man in the house there is no one to care for them. Now Oscar and his aunt have to plant a garden so they can sell their materials. The money in the banks ran out.
After that new idea started to work for a couple of months the worst thing possible happened, the money throughout the banks have ran out! Oscar and his aunt now have no money left. The Tax Revenue Act of 1932 occured.
Before finally deciding to leave, Oscar's aunt wanted to see if she could keep her job. After a whole year of balancing her job the Tax Revenue Act of 1932 appeared. Since the family Oscar's aunt was working for was rich they had to pay extra taxes. Now with the taxes the family was able to afford to pay for Oscar's aunt's paycheck. Oscar's father recently sent news of acquiring a new job. In the new job he is helping build bridges and other road work. The Tennessee Valley Authority plan commenced.
Oscar's cousin sent a letter informing his cousin that he was able to get a job for the TVA, he will help build power mills. Now that his cousin has a job he will send money so that Oscar and his aunt will be able to reach Oscar's father. The National Industrial Recovery act commenced.
Once arriving in California Oscar and his aunt weren't able to buy many thing due to the National Industrial Recovery act, this drove up the prices for many things the family needed. The Wagner Act was passed.
At the age of sixteen Oscar was able to earn a job working on the bridges right beside his father, once he arrived even against all odds. Even though they were getting paid to finance for their family they've been getting treated unfairly. The Bond Price plummeted.
Once the bond price plummeted the job Oscar and his father was working for could no longer keep all of their employees. They sadly fired Oscar. Even though this event was so horrific for everyone else, for Oscar the event gave new ideas that he presented to the company he worked for. The Unemployment rate lowers.
After World War II broke out in Europe America needed soldiers in case the war ever broke out in the United States. They started to recruit soldiers and since Oscar was at such a good age to qualify as a soldier the officers recruited him.
