WWI vets marched on Washington DC demanding pensions. They were removed by force. The people blamed Hoover. -
New Leadership
FDR get elected to become our 32nd president. He won the election by a landslide over Hoover. -
New Amendments
The 20th Amendment is ratified. It sets dates for which federal government elected offices ends. Also who succeeds the president if he dies. -
More Changes
The Second New Deal comes into effect. This creates welfare programs like: Social Security, the Wagner Act, and Fair Labor Act. -
The Better Side
Towards the end of the Depression we say many great Achievements happen on the entertainment side. Books like "Grapes of Wrath", movies like "Wizard of Oz" surfaced. This all started to happen around 1937 -
The Results
The Great depression ended. During that time period we had 25% unemployed, nearly 1 million farms lost, 5,000 banks/20,000 companies go bankrupt. It is one of the worst times in American history.
