Hoover was elected president on Nov. 6 1928. He beat out Al Smith 444 votes to 87. -

Agricultural Marketing Act
The act was passed by congress to help farmers. It was supposed to bail out the farmers and make a resonable price for crops. -
Dust Bowl
The dust bowl was a long stom of dirt and dust that covered the whole midwest. It killed plants and livestock and made cut the price of the crops that did live drastically. -
Taxes
Due to the lack of money in the government they raise the taxes. The taxe rate went from 25 to 65 %. -
FDR Elected President
Hoover lost the faith of the citizens and Roosevelt eaisly won. Democrats gain control of Congress -
Unemployment Low
The GPN falls another 2.1 percent. The unemployment rate rises to 24.9 % -
Keynesian deficit spending
Roosevelt started to take money from the rich and give it to the poor. And wants to keep a balanced budget. Also he rejects the Keynesian deficit spending idea. -
Banking Panic
A third banking panic happens in March, and FDR declares a Bank Holiday. He closes a finantial institutions to stop a bank run. -
World War II
Hitler invades Poland. Japan and zitaly join with Germany. U.S. goins in following years.
