Estates-General
Louis put off dealing with the emergency until he had no money left. His solution was to impose taxes on the nobility. An assembly of representatives from all three estates, to approve this new tax. -
Burning down of the Bastille
The revolutionaires where looking for weapons and for a big sign to show the king they where angry, so they burnt down the prision and killed a lot of soldiers. -
National Assembly
Sieyés, a clergyman, made a dramatic speech and suggested that the Third Estate delegates name themselves the National Assembly. They would pass laws and reforms in the name of the French people. -

General Assembly Reforms France
There were a lot of changes during that year, the revolutionaires are taking over and putting new laws and ways of handling the gov. They where still really angry, and starving. -
France declares war to Austria and Prussia
Austria and Prussia sent a declaration of Pillnit to France saying they where not happy to what was being done to the monarchy, and they intended to bring them to power. The people of France took it really seriously and declared the war to Austria and Prussia. -
Royal Family tries to escape
The king and his family dress up as servants and try to escape, although they are cought and sent to a palace in Paris, so they do not try to escape. The people are dissapointed on the king and even more angry. -
New Constitution
A legislative assembly is crated and the people decide to make a new constitution, which is a constitutional monarchy. -
Emigrés
Civil marriage and divorce instituted. Assembly orders all émigrés to return under pain of death. -

The poor people who stormed the Bastille. A label for the more poor suporters of that movement. -
Jacobins
He is defies de assembly, and storms into Twileries palace and imprisions the king and his family. -

There is a lot of violence, and a lot of people are killed. -
France abolished Monarchy
Assembly declares the republic, they don't want the king to rule anymore because they think he's going to do something dangerous to them. He has no longer power. -
Execution Louis XVI
They chopped his head of with a guilloteene. The poeople thought he was no longer for any use and they where scared, so they took him from prision and killed him. -
Death of 2 People
Marat, “the people’s friend,” is murdered by Charlotte Corday. Corday is executed amid popular outrage. -
Death of Robespierre
Convention calls for arrest of Robespierre. Robespierre attempts insurrection which flops, is arrested and executed. After about 150 of his supporters are done away with, the Terror is over. -
Peace with Spain and Prussia
France begins to be in peace with his enemies and the new republic contitution is aproved by people.
