    Meeting of the Estates General
    A time when the King called a meeting between the three estates. It was because he spent too much money. He needed to tax the second estate to get more money but they didn't want him to.

    Officials of the court locked out the third estate during a meeting. The third estate went to the king's indoor tennis court and made an oath to never disband until they got France a new Constitution.

    The Storming of the Bastille
    It was a time of fear because there were rumours of the king wanting to overthrow the third estate. This caused the people to storm the Bastille where they got weapons and munitions.

    Napoleon's Empire Collapses

    Napoleon's army was destroyed in the Battle of the Nile in Egypt. It caused the creation of a coalition consisting of Austria, Russia, Turkey and Great Britain. Napoleon exploited his power back in France but his government was overthrown.

    The Declaration of Rights
    The people were angered with the king. They would not rest until they overthrew him. But they came up with another idea, a declaration, that provided them liberty, equality, the right to own land and the right to resist oppression.

    March on Versailles
    The king refused to sanction their declaration, so the people took action into their own hands. They marched on Versailles and took the royal family back to France where they held a meeting and got their declaration signed.

    Napoleon and the government of France had created an army of over a million men. They used this to storm countries and take them to gain more land in the name of France. The people would overthrow leaders and they would be replaced with new ones.

    A time period where 300,000 people were arrested and 17,000 of those people were sentenced to death. This occurred at the same time that Napoleon created his army.

    The Congress of Vienna
    This was when the countries of Austria, Russia, Turkey and Great Britain met to discuss the problems that occurred because of France. They decided that there should be a balance of power so one country doesn't get too much power.
