National Assembly
The third estate leader debated that the third estate delagates would name themselves the National Assembly. On June 17 they voted to establish the National Assembly and end the Absolute Monarchy by starting a representative government. -
Fall of Bastille
The first revolution was in a political prision. Angry, unemplyed, and hungry people in the third estate, the lower class. The commander of the prision ended up surrendering to the mob and there was the fall of Bastille. -
Assembly Reforms France
Nobels declared the importance of liberty and equiality. The Assembly adopted new revolutionart ideas that were more focused on the Rights of man and of the citizen. Also the state started being more influenced by the church. -
Declaration of Rights
Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen was created after the French people felt their rulers were treating them unfairly. Most rights were only enjoyed by the nobility. -
March on Versailles
There is no exact date but, in October a crowd of protesters, mostly women, marched from Paris to the Palace of Versailles, Mad that the royal family and nobility lived in luxury, compared to the French people. They broke into the palace and they demanded bread and wanted to bring the King back in Paris to “live among the people”. Louis agreed. -
King Tries to Escape
King Louise tries to flee with his family from France. They failed as they were captured in the small town of Varennes. -
Limited Monarchy- Legislative Assembly
The long awaited constitution finally came into effect, France was now a constitutional monarchy, while the National Assembly was replaced by a new political group: the Legislative Assembly. -
War on Austria
The Legislative Assembly declared war on Austria. King Louise believed the foreighn armies would overthrow the new government. The Legislative Assembly thought the war would unifiy them and spread the ideal of revolution through Europe. -
Monarchy Abolishment
The Legislative Assembly votes to abolish the monarchy and establish the First Republic.
