The French Revolution

  • Start or end of the seven year war.

    The wars ended with a signing of the treaties of Hubertusburg and Paris in February. France lost all claims to Canada.
  • Napoleon early career

    Napoleon attended school in mainland France. He went on and graduated from a French military academy.
  • The American Revolution

    British Soldiers and Colonists exchanged gunfire at Lexington and Concord in Massachusetts. Described as the "shot heard round the world." It led to a creating of a new nation.
  • The Declaration of Independence

    The official act taken by all 13 colonies in declaring in dependence from British rule. The people in the colonies were unhappy they didn't have a say in the rule and they still had to pay taxes.
  • Formation of the national assembly

    It represented the common people of France and demanded that the king make economic reforms to insure that the people had food to eat.
  • Tennis Court Oath

    The members of the french third estate took an oath saying, "not to separate and to reassemble wherever circumstances require, until the constitution of the kingdom is established.
  • Storming of the bastille

    The violent attack on the government by the people of France signaled the start of the French Revolution The Bastille was the fortress built in the late 1300s to protect Paris.
  • The Terror

    Formally abolished the "feudal regime" , including seigneurial rights. This led in effect to a general unrest among the nobility of France.
  • formation of the national convention

    This was a single-chamber assembly in France. It founded the first republic after the insurrection.
  • The murder of marat

    This is a painting by Jacques-Louis David of the murdered french revolutionary leader Jean-Paul Marat. It is one of the most famous images of the French Revolution.
  • The execution of Danton

    Two committees decided to arrest Danton with a chance to be heard in the convention.
  • Napoleon as emperor.

    He conquered much of Europe in the early 19th century. He crowned himself emperor in 1804.
  • Napoleons Late life/ Death

    He was subsequently exiled to the island of Saint Helena off the coast of Africa and died 6 years later. He died of stomach cancer. In 1840, his body was returned to Paris where it was interred in the hotel des invalides.
