The Causes of the French Revolution
The tax system was unfair (only the poorest citizen were paying taxes).
The king personal spending were huge.
The American war of independence cost France a lot while the country already had a huge debt. he ideas of the Enlightened (Voltaire, Rousseau) on Freedom and Equality paved the way of the French Revolution.

The National Assembly
In 1789, Louis XVI, King of France, called for the constitution of Estates-General. when the third estate of the estates general walked out, and started their own parliament called the national assembly. -
The Tennis Court Oath
The representatives of the First Estate (the Clergy), the Second Estate (the Nobility) and the Third Estate (the poorest French citizen) gathered in Versailles.
The decisions were submit to the vote of the representatives but there was one vote by Estate instead of one vote by head. So the Third Estate were always put aside as the two other powerful Estates joined to counter any popular decision.
So the Third Estate representatives revolted. They gathered in the Tennis court on June 20th. -
The Attack on Bastille
http://www.history.com/topics/french-revolutionOn the morning of July 14th, 1789, a group formed of craftsmen and salesmen decided to fight back and ran to the Invalides to steal some weapons. The mob stole 28,000 riffles there, however no powder was to be found. -
Bread March
one of the earliest and most significant events of the French Revolution. The march began among women in the marketplaces of Paris who, on the morning of 5 October 1789, were near rioting over the high price and scarcity of bread. -
The Royal Escape
The king and the rest of his family dresssed as peasants and tried to escape from france. They were a few miles away from the boarder, when the king decided to take a "rest" stop. The second the stopped one of the locals noticed him and braught him straight back to paris where he would be accused of treason.

Reign of Terror

Its purpose was to purge France of enemies of the Revolution and protect the country from foreign invaders. From January 1793-July 1794, France was governed by the Committee of Public Safety, in which Danton and Robespierre were influential members. In the course of nine months, 16, 000 people were guillotined, but executions of those labeled "internal enemies" of France took place throughout the country. -
The Death of King Louis The 16th
Louis was convicted and condemned to death by a narrow majority. On January 21, he walked steadfastly to the guillotine and was executed. Nine months later, Marie Antoinette was convicted of treason by a tribunal, and on October 16 she followed her husband to the guillotine.
