    Biography Louis XIV, known as the "Sun King", loved to spend money and didn't tax the first or second estate, but he taxed the 3rd estate heavily.The third estate begins to be disgruntled.

It plunged France into greater national debt but did not stop the lavish spending of the first and second estates and the King.

    The Women of France march on Versaille and push the royal family, King Louis XIV and his wife, Marie Antoinette to Paris where they become prisoners. The National Assembly tries to establish a constitutional monarchy but the people don't want that.

    Louis XIV was arrested in June of 1791 and sentenced to death. He was beheaded by the guillotine thus ending the rule of a monarch.
