France was governed by the Committee of Public Safety, and they approved the Reign of Terror. It was a period of ten months when the Committee tried to remove any traitors or threats from the country. Danton and Robespierre were the leaders of the Committee and saw that the reign of terror was put in place. Robespierre found his inspiration in the writings of Rousseau, which led him to prolonging the terror. -
