A mob of women marched to the Hôtel de Ville, hoping that the city's officials would address their problem. The women had heard that on October 1st of this year, the national cockade was trampled on by the French bodyguards. The results of this march was that the women killed a couple guards and the King and his family moved from Versailles to Paris. -
Royal flight to Varennes
The royal family tries to flee from Tuileries Palace. They are caught at Varennes, where they are arrested, then taken back to Tuileries Palace. -

On this day, France declared war upon Austria. This started almost five years of nonstop fighting in France -
The Tenth of August
Militias supported by the Paris Commune assaulted the Swiss guards who guarded the royal family. They then went on to lock up the family in prison. -
Proclamation of the abolition of the monarchy
On this day, the French Commune abolished monarchy. They then turned the government into a republic. -
Execution of Louis XVI
Louis XVI was sentenced to death for "conspiracy against the public liberty and the general safety" on this day. He was executed on this day by guillotine. -
Thermidorian Reaction
This day, Robespierre and many other Jacobins were arrested and excuted. This caused "The Terror" to be over and brought the French Revolution to a close.
