    As the National Assembly continued to work on the D.R.M , the king wasn's very happy. they split from the other 2 estates because they were really unreasonable and didn't respect the 3rd. estate.

    On June 17, the Third Estate decided to break from the Estates General and draw up their own constitution. They also dubbed themselves the "National Assembly." On June 20, 1789 they found themselves locked out of their regular meeting place, and so they gathered in an nearby tennis court and vowed that they would continue to meet until they had established a new constitution for France. This was the first step of the French Revolution.

The National Assembly proclaims itself the Constituent National Assembly, with full authority and power to decree laws; their primary task is to draw up and adopt a constitution. Necker is dismissed.     The Revolution had been going for about two years. The royal family was under house arrest in their palace in Paris. one night, the king and his family got in their royal carriage and using the cover of darkness they tried to to head for Austria they made it to the border but were spotted and captured and brought back to Paris.

    Frances declared War on Austria!!
    European nations feared the spread of revolutionary fervor from France and were highly critical of the new government in France threatening to intervene to restore the power of King. A number of other issues divided Austria and France, and both sides seemed to want war. On April 20, 1792 France declared war on Austria. That began the War of the First Coalition. The French suffered initial defeats in the field.

    King Louis XVI was sentenced to the guillotine, and beheaded. As a result Austria , Prussia , Portaugal, Britian , & the Dutch Republic declared war on France and invaded. If France lost this war then the French Revolution would be crushed and Frances absolute monarchy would be restored .

    When the war started , the french army was loosing and the Austrian Prussian army got to within 30 miles or so of Paris. Great Britian put a anval blackade on Frances ports. As a result the French goverenment ( nation assembly ) started killing anyone who was against the french revolution. 40,000 people including Marie Antoinetter will be sentto the guillotine.The reign of terror ends with Maximilllien Robespierre being sent to the guillentine.

    During the revoluttion , Napoleon rose through the military ranks. he became leader of the French army in Italy. He lead France in taking Egypt from Great Britain. Napoleon is considered one of the greatest generals in all of history.
