The Hadrian's wall
At 122 A.D. the Emperor Hadrian ordered his soldiers to build a wall between Roman Britain and Scotland. It ran from Wallsend in the east to Bowness on the Solway Firth. According to Hadrian’s biographer it was built to separate the Romans from barbaríans. Nowadays it’s believed that its main purpose was to control immigration and trade, as our modern borders.

Battle of Hastings

During the battle King Harold was killed and his army was defeated. Duke William claimed the throne of England and on Christmas Day of that year he became King William I. A new era had begun. King Alfreat the Great beat the Vikings
At 878 AD the English king Alfred the Great beat the Viking army in the battle of Edington. Both sides agreed a treaty of peace and Guthrum -the Viking’s leader- agreed to become a Christian. As a consequence, Alfred allowed the Vikings to settle in part of England, which became known as the Danelaw.
