The Stamp Act
This act was passed by the British Parliament, imposed on all American colonists. They now had to pay taxes on all their printed paper, which then lead to an uproar in the colonies, due to taxation without representation.

The Townshend Act of 1767
This act was passed by the British government, it is a series of laws against American Colonists. They placed new taxes on the colonists and took away some of their freedom, leading to resistance in colonies and the Boston Massacre. -

To protest against tea taxes colonists disguised as Native Americans dumped hundreds of crates of tea into the harbor. -

The First Continental Congress Meeting
Delegates from all 13 colonies, with the exception of Georgia, met in Philadelphia. They were trying to organize the colonies, this lead to Peyton Randolph being named president of the convection. -

Delegates from 12 colonies meet to discuss the events taking place. -
Olive Branch Petition Sent to England
This petition was the colonist trying to make peace with Britain. They pledged their loyalty to the king, which lead to the king refusing the petition. -
