    10) Pepi the Second's Pyramid- The Last of The Pyramid Era
    From Khafre's Pyramid on, the Egyptian pharoah began to make their monuments smaller and shabbier. This was due to economic struggle and lack of limestone. The last pyramid built by the Egyptian's belongs to Pepi II, built in 721 BC. Little of it remains, and was probably still quite small compared tot the masterpieces before it.

    At first glance, the reamins of Amenemhat I's pyramid look to be in order. That is because the scraps left over have been covered up moistly by sand and create a hillish shape over the actual few bricks let that were used in his pyramid.

    Sahure's Pyramid signals the decline in quality of these tombs, becasue all that's left over is a pile of remains of the momument that was. The amount of care given to previous pharoah's, such as Khufu's pyramid is obvious when compared to the reamins of Sahure's.

    In 2532 BC, Menkaure beuilt his pyramid, the smallest of the three in Giza. It was 215 feet tall and made of limestone and granite.

    In 2558 BC, Khufu's son Khafre built his pyramid. It was slightly smaller than his fathers, but very important due to the fact that it was built with the Sphinx. This famous stone figure was a lion's body with the pharaoh's head. It is very famous in relation to Egypt.

    In 2589 BC, the pharaoh Khufu built the tallest of the pyramids in Giza, called the Great Pyramid. It is 455 feet tall and one of the Seven Wonders of the world. Interestingly enough, it is the only pyramid to reamin largely intact.

    In 2612 BC, Snefru had his first pyramid built. It was a step pyramid like Djoser's, once consisting of 7 layers, with only 3 remaining today. The reason being it suffered many catostrophic collapses, and this led Snefru to build another.

    In 2612 BC, Snefru had his second pyramid built. This one is called the Bent Pyramid, because the steepness of it's sides was increased halfway through, causing it to appear bent. The other signifciant difference in it's deign is it's smooth sides. In the past, pyramids were built in the step shape.

    In 2612 BC, Snefru built his third and final pyramid, commonly referred to as the Red pyramid because of it's pink limestone blocks. It was built the first of it's kind to be built with all smooth sides, a new design trend that wouls stick with the Egyptian pyramids through the rest of their era.

    In 2630 BC, Djoser had the first pyramid built, which was designed to be his stariway to the afterlife. It is composed of 6 stacked mastabas (traditional Egyptian burial chambers), at about 254 feet tall.
