During this timespan, Emperor Constantine came into power and made Christianity legal. This allowed Christianity as a religion to prosper and grow. The Eucharistic prayer was no-longer just simply improvised and had an actual structure that the Catholic audience followed. -

The Last Supper 33AD
This was the first spark in the making of the Eucharist. It was Jesus' last meal with his apostles. This had provided a structure which the Catholic Church had followed whilst making the Eucharistic rite. -

During this time, the Catholic church had enforced several things. The standard was for the priest to celebrate the Eucharist with their backs turned whilst the clerks did all the reading. During this time period, Catholics had to have the sacrament of penance before receiving the Holy Communion. -

Leonardo Da Vinci's famous "Last Supper"
This artwork depicts the Last Supper through the Gospel of John. It is rather sinister as Jesus says that one of his twelve disciples will betray him. Leonardo's "Last Supper" reflects the theme of sacrifice as Jesus is offering himself in the form of unleavened bread and wine.
