Russia closed all highways, railroads and canals because they wanted Berlin all to themselves. They figured this would cut the people living there, of food and needed supplies. Then, resulting in the US, France, and Britain leaving Berlin. The Allies solution was to fly the needed supplies into Berlin by plane, this became known as the Berlin Airlift. -
