Anne Frank got a diary for her birthday.
"I hope I will be able to confide everything to you, as I have never been able to confide in anyone, and I hope you will be a great source of comfort and support." -
Margot Frank got a "callup" to report to go to a work camp.
“I was stunned. A call-up, everyone knows what that means. Visions of concentration camps and lonely cells raced through my head.” -
Anne Frank packed to go into hiding.
"The first thing I put in was this diary, then hair curlers, handkerchiefs, schoolbooks, a comb, old letters; I put in the craziest things with the idea that we were going into hiding. But I'm not sorry, memories mean more to me than dresses." -page 12 -
Anne Frank and her family went into hiding.
“The Annex is an ideal place to hide in. It may be damp and lopsided, but there's probably not a more comfortable hiding place in all of Amsterdam. No, in all of Holland.” -
Anne Frank questions her religion.
"Mother pressed her prayer book into my hands. I read a few prayers in German, just to be polite. They certainly sound beautiful, but they mean very little to me. Why is she making me act so religious and devout?" I choose a picture of a Jewish prayer book that might have looked like the one her mother had. -
Anne Frank talked about how lucky she was to have a safe place to hide and a warm bed to sleep in.
"We’re so fortunate here, away from the turmoil. We wouldn’t have to give a moment’s thought to all this suffering if it weren’t for the fact that we’re so worried about those we hold dear, whom we can no longer help. I feel wicked sleeping in a warm bed, while somewhere out there my dearest friends are dropping from exhaustion or being knocked to the ground." -
Anne Frank talked about the war.
"Every night hundreds of planes pass over Holland on their way to German cities, to sow their bombs on German soil. Every hour hundreds, or maybe even thousands, of people are being killed in Russia and Africa. No one can keep out of the conflict, the entire world is at war, and even though the Allies are doing better, the end is nowhere in sight." -
Anne Frank talked about her mother.
"Mother has said that she sees us more as friends than as daughters. That's all very nice, of course, except that a friend can't take the place of a mother. I need my mother to set a good example and be a person I can respect, but in most matters she's an example of what not to do." -
Anne Frank realized that she had a crush on Peter van Daan.
"Whenever I go upstairs, it’s always so I can see "him." Now that I have something to look forward to, my life here has improved greatly." -
The Frank family were betrayed and arrested.
“I keep my ideals, because in spite of everything I still believe that people are really good at heart.” Anne Frank is talking about what she thinks make people who they are. This is important, because someone then betrayed them and they all got arrested. I choose a picture of a Nazi soldier for my picture, because they were arrested be Nazi soldiers.
