  • Period: 1096 to 1099

    The first crusade

    An army made up of peasants went off to the holy land. All of them were almost killed. In 1099 they captured Jerusalem.
  • Period: 1145 to 1149

    Second crusade

    The knights of the first crusade went through the holy land creating new kingdoms.Then the muslims began attacking back.
  • 1187

    Salah ad-Din (the new muslim leader) 1187 recaptured Jerusalem.
  • Period: 1189 to 1192

    The third crusade

    Muslims allied under one ruler. Salah ad-Din.

    The christians failed to reconquer the town of Jerusalem
  • Period: 1202 to 1204

    The fourth crusade

    The Pope Inocent III asked christians to recapture jerusalem. But the armies never reached the holy lands because some groups fought with other groups
  • 1212

    Children's crusade

    Children's crusade
    A crusade leaded by a 12 year old french shepard. 30,000 children were said to have departed to thge holy lands. Alot of them died from hunger and exahustion. Thousands were kidnapped for slavery.
  • Period: 1217 to 1250

    The fifth, sixth, seventh crusade

    In all of these crusades the christians could not recapture Jerusalem
