Proctor is introduced to the story. He discusses his affair with Abigail.He tells Abigail that the affair is over. -
Act One pages 472-485
Rebecca, Mr.Hale and Giles are introduced.Hale wants Tituba to give him the names of the four guilty people. Parris informed Hale that the girls were dancing in the forest -
Act Two pages 487-493
John and Elizabeth discuss the trials in Salem.John has to go in town and tell them that Abigail is lying. Elizabeth is being accused in the court. -
Act Two pages 494-498
John has to tell Abigail that is over between them.Hale arrives and questions Proctor about his religious devotion.Both Giles and Francis wives have been arrested for witchcraft. -
Act Two pages 499-503
Elizabeth have been arrested.Proctor wants Mary to testify on Elizabeth's behalf.Mary is terrified and doesn't want to go through with that plan -
Act Three pages 505-511
Judge Hathorne is questioning Martha Corey.Giles is thrown in another room because he keeps interupting.Proctor presents a petition saying that Elizabeth ,Martha and Rebecca are good people. -
Act Three pages 512-517
Proctor then gives Danforth Giles Corey's deposition. Corey says Putnam told his daughter to accuse George Jacobs of witchcraft so Putnam could take his land.Corey refused to tell the name of the person he got this information from and Putnam denies it. -
Act Three pages 518-525
Danforth gets Mary Warren's statement admitting that her and the other girls were faking.Abigail denies Mary's accusations.Abigail says she feels a spirit in the room which enrages Proctor and makes him call her a whore and confess that they had an affair.Mary breaks down under pressure and confesses that John forced her to work for the devil.Proctor and Corey are arrested. -
Act Four pages 527-530
Hale is trying to get prisoner to confess their sins.Abigail and Mercy have ran away stealing Hale's life savings.Paris is very concerned about what will happen if they hang people who are well respected. -
Act Four pages 531-533
Hales wants to push the executions back but Danforth doesn't because it would make him look bad. Hale says that he haven't extracted any confessions yet.They bring Elizabeth in to try to persuade Proctor to confess. -
Act Four pages 534-539
Elizabeth informs John that Giles is dead.John wants to confess because he doesn't think much of himself.Elizabeth tells him that only him can decide whether or not to confess.He confesses but he wont name any names or he wont sign his name. Rebecca and John are led to the gallows to be executed.
