  • Louis XVI

    Louis XVI
    He was born in Chatea day Saint-Germain-en-Laye. His parents are Loius XIIII and Anne of Austria. He was the last Bourbon. He married Austrian archduchess. He brought the French revolution crahing down. He was killed in 1793 and his wife was killed 9 months later. Louis resisted the national assembly's idea of a new constitution and the army resisted te kings actions. In 1789 he had to acknowledge the national assmebly's authority.
  • Maximilien Robespierre

    Maximilien Robespierre
    Young provincial lawyer who led the most radical phases of the French Revolution. His execution ended the Reign of Terror. See Jacobins.
  • George Jacques Danton

    George Jacques Danton
    Violent agitator in the early days of Revolution, was very unpopular with the public. A compromiser, he came to oppose what he considered the Revolutions excesses
  • Old Regime

    Old Regime
    There were three groups during the old regime. First it was the first estate and that had 100,000 clergy. The second estate was the nobility and had 400,000 people. And the third estate had 26 million people. In the third estate it was the commoners. The first and second estate had special privelages. For example they didnt have tax on their property.

  • Marie Antoinette

    Marie Antoinette
    She was born in Vienna, Austria. She married Louis XVI to confirm the alliance between France and Austria. After seven years of marriage she had a daughter. At first the french people liked her but they soon became to dislike her. They disliked her becasue she was always spending huge amounts on money when she didnt really need to also she had etravagant parties while some people could only afford a loaf of bread to feed thier chilren. She was executed 9 minoths after her husband.

    Its frances legislative that got called by Loius XVI, it hadn't of been called for 150 years. When that happened it led to the thrid estate breaking away and turining into the National Assembly.

    A political club consisting of both men and women but leadership was solely bourgeoisie, Main goal was the removal of the king and establishment of a republic
  • National Assembly

    National Assembly
    The third estate turned themsleves into the national assembly. They got double representation, but on voting day they found out that it was by estate not by heads. So they refused that and meet seperatly from the estates-general. On July 17th the declared thier name to be the national assembly.

    began when Robespierre came into power. He was an enemy of the French Republic. During this time Robespierre would accuse people of going against the government and he would daily execute them in the newly formed way of torture/killing, the guillotine.

    was a body of five Directors that held executive power in France following the Convention and preceding the Consulate.
