    The Adventurer Philip Nolan

    Philip Nolan was a trader, he made his way to the Louisiana-Texas frontier, but because of an invalid trading license the Texas authorities suspected Nolan of being a spy. His two successful trading expeditions during 1794-1799 a, he traded with the Indians and the Tejanos that was illegally with the Americans but then we were killed by the Spaniards. (104-105)

    In 1805 U.S troops arrived in Natchitoches and asserted that the U.S claimed that area. In 1806 both sided (U.S and the Spanish) was preparing for war because Jefferson learned that the Spanish was maker new settlements in the country and ordered troops to chase them out. However, commandant general Nemesio Salcedo proposed that there should be a neutral ground between Natchitoches and the Sabine River. (106)

    Mexican Revolution Begins
    Father Migual Hidalgo y Costilla was the first person to spark the idea of Mexican Independence. Father Hidalgo made a speech to a crowd that gathered in front of Hidalgo church in a town called Dolores in Mexico saying “Long live religion! long live our mother Guadalupe! Long live Ferdinand VII and death to bad government”. At first the news of the revolt spread up north, but it didn't get much support at the time but over time this would be the start of the Mexican war of independence.

    Father Hidalgo was as known at the Father of Mexican Independence because he was the one who sparked the idea of Mexican independence war, but shortly after was captured and killed on March 21,1811 but after his Hidalgo’s death, Jose Marie Morelos took over to continue the fight for Mexican independence. Under father Morelos leadership the declared independence from Spain and abolished slavery and drafted a constitution for Mexico. (119)
  • Battle of Medina

    Battle of Medina
    Was fought between the republican forces of Gutierres-Magee expedition under general Jose Alvarez de Toledo y DuBois and the Spanish royalist under the general Joaquin de Arredondo. This battle was a complete disaster for everyone invalid, there were thousands of deaths and flights marking this in Texas history was the bloodiest fight on Texas soil. (122-124)

    Father Morelos
    Jose Maria Morelos took over the Mexican independence movement, he was a better military tactician then Hidalgo. Morelos was able to control portion of south of Mexico City and then organized a congress that declared Mexican independence from Spain. In November 1815 Father Morelos was captured and then killed.   • Adams-Onis Treaty

    Adams-Onis Treaty
    Also known as the transcontinental treaty. John Quincy Adam was the US secretary of state and Spanish ambassador Luis de Onis reached agreement and signed the treaty in Washington D.C, they concluded that Spain would receive Texas and give up Florida, at first this did not win the approval of the western political interest, but Adam know that Texas would fall to the United Stated.     A document by James Long (a Natchez merchant and a veteran of the war of 1812) and a group of Anglo-American supporters that stated, “they should be included with in limits”. So, the first thing the government did was give 6400 acres to each soldier for the service (128-129)

    There were many people who help fought for Mexican Independence and they were Father Hidalgo who sparked it and then Jose Marie Moralos who took over after Father Hidalgo death. Without Father Moralos leadership and the help of Mexican rebels they wouldn't have achieved freedom, and after a long decade for independence had devastated in Mexico. (136)

    Agustín de Iturbide

    Was a soldier who fought in the Mexican war of independence and was send in to battle to crush the rebel but instead came to an agreement with Vincente Guerrero that would separate Mexico from Spain and that was sign in Feb 21 1821, then became an emperor of Mexico but only for two years then he was exiled and when he returned back to Mexico he was killed.
