Known as the Intolerable Acts to the colonies. One closed Boston Harbor, Another withdrew the right of Massachusetts colony to govern itself. -

Urged Resistance to the british, consisted of colonists that wanted to stay notified. -
First Continental Congress
Delegates from all colonies except Georgia met in Philadelphia. They debated what to do about the relationship with Great Britain. They decided to impose an embargo on British goods. -
Battle of Lexington and Concord
First battle of the revolutionary war. Minutemen, and British soldiers clashed. Was a very small skirmish. -
Second Continental Congress
Delegates met once again. Decided to make John Hancock president, mainly due to him being able to fund an army. Organized an army, navy, issued money, and appointed George Washington as Commander of the military. It also served as the acting government of the colonies throughout the war. -
Resolution of Independence
Congress decides to make a committee to create a written declaration of independence. get a final draft done on June 28th. -
Decleration of Independence
Signed by every member of the Congress, declared the colonies independence from Great Britain. John Hancock gives it a really good autograph.
