Iron Curtain
By 1946 the Japanese had surrendered the war and the second was wad over. The Iron Curtain Speech was made by Churchill and Germany was split into two regions; one for the Soviet to control and the other for the U.S to control. The Iron Curtain was very significant because it showed how democracy and dictatorship impact a nation and it was another reason why the Soviet and the U.S.A were going against each other. -
Berlin Airlift
The Russians decided to barricade their portion of Berlin so no food,supplies, etc were able to pass. The reason why the Russians did this was to drive away the States, France and Britain. Instead of that occurring, the three allies decided to airlift supplies and food to the locked up Berlin. Stalin supported North Korea ( dictatorship) who invaded South Korea. Stalin supplied North Korea with Soviet Weapons. It prompted the U.S.A to support South Korea with American armies, supplies, etc. It was significant because it was another battle between democracy and dictatorship. -

USSR and the USA are competing with nuclear weapons. It was significant because the race led to the Cuban Missiles Crisis -
Rocket Launch
Vostok rocket launched caused a war in space. It was an importance in the war because the Americans were afraid that the Soviets could nuke them through space. Castro took over Cuba
Fidel Castro had overthrown the government in Cuba and reigned over it for about five decades. He was able to reduced illiteracy rates, racism but was frowned upon for the citizens nonexistence freedom of speech and politics. The U.S.A didn't like the way it was established and it lead to the Bay of Pigs. -
Bay of Pigs
