The Marshall Plan
The Marshall Plan was a plan put out to help and support the capitalist parts of Europe, to help it recover after WW2. The United States did this to help stop the spread of communism. -
The Berlin Airlift
Angry with the west, the USSR created a blockade around West Berlin to deny any supplies to west Berlin. Stalin was trying to starve the people into submission, to counteract this, aircraft with supplies were flown into Berlin, after this, the blockade was canceled. -

The creation of the Warsaw Pace was the response to NATO being formed, it grouped communist countries together similar to NATO. -

To avoid a nuclear war, the United States and USSR used proxy wars, one of these was the Vietnam War, this was a fight between a communist regime and an anti-communist regime. -

It was a key Cold War event that began on October 4, 1957 when the Soviet Union launched Sputnik 1, the first artificial Earth satellite. -
Creation of the Berlin Wall
Overnight, a wall was built in between west and east Germany. This was done in order to stop people in east Germany to go to west Germany, as east Germany was losing workers at an alarming rate. This showed on display the failure of communism and had the current president at the time, JFK, to say, "Freedom has many difficulties and democracy is not perfect, but we have never had to put a wall up to keep our people in,..." -
Cuban Missile Crisis
The Cuban Missile Crisis was the closest the world ever came to nuclear war. The United States military was actively ready for war, and the Soviets were ready to fire the nuclear missiles, eventually, they were removed after agreeing to remove nuclear missiles from turkey. -

Fall of the Berlin Wall
After 28 years, the wall was broken down signifying the near end of the cold war, after the military's power in east Germany was heavily diminished, the people took the opportunity to tear down the wall. -
The Dissolution of the USSR
After east Germany was released from USSR control, other areas of the USSR that were independent before WW2 also demanded freedom, and after multiple revolutions, the USSR was disolved.
