Berlin Blockade
In an effort to gain control over all of Germany, Soviets, led by Stalin, blocked off all roads into West Berlin, leading to the first major crisis in the Cold War. NATO formed
The North Atlantic Treaty Organization was created to represent the ideals of non-communist countries in alliance with each other. If the Soviet Union attacked any one country of NATO, all of NATO would be unified to defend them, ulimately acting as one super country against the Soviets. Vietnam War
North and South Vietnam are divided, as north is wishing to make the country communist. The French lose control over Vitenam, giving up their wish to return it to their pre-World War Two colony of Endochina. American troops remain in the south, even though technically it is a civil war. This war lasts 21 years and America eventually loses. In response to West Germany's inclusion to NATO, Soviets created the Warsaw Pact to gain control of the countries' militiaries and unify and defend themselves from outside attacks, as well promote so-called "peace". Bay of Pigs
A large mistake blamed on Kennedy, Bay of Pigs was a failed operation in an attempt to get Cuban exiles to invade Cuba and overthrow Castro, backed by the CIA.
