The Soviets wanted control over Berlin so they blocked roads and railways that the Allies used to bring supplies to Berlin. Berlin Blockade Ends
The Berlin airlift was created so the Allies could bring supplies to Berlin. This lasted for about a year and then the Soviets decided to end the blockade because their efforts at gaining control of Berlin were lost.

Bay of Pigs Invasion
