Truman Doctrine established
Truman asked Congress for $400 million in econmic and military aid. This decared that the U.S. must suppport free people resisting attempted subjugation. The blockade was the first international crisis of the Cold War, where the Soviets blocked Allies access into parts of Berlin. NATO stood for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization where the countries of Belgium, Denmark, Fance, Great Britain, Iceland, Italy, Luxemburg, Netherlands, Norway, and Portugal joined in a defensive military alliance with Canada and U.S. against the Soviets. Rosenburg Executions
Julius and Ethel Rosenburg were convicted of comitting espionage during the war and leaking information about the atomic bombs to the Soviets. They leaked informarion to the Soviets about the secrets to the making of the bombs. i would give this a 2 because it wasnt a big factor, the atomic bombs were already dropped years earlier and the Soviets werent going to drop a bomb on us, this didnt really lead to any further conflicts on the topic. -
Warsaw Pact formed
The Warsaw Pact was a defense treaty between the Soviets and seven other commnist nations. The soviets grew fearful when West Germany joined NATO, because of the war with u.s and soviets agiainst Germany a few years before. The Bay of Pigs Invasion was an unsuccessful U.S. invasion of Cuba, the failed invasion stregthened the Cuban government under Fridel Castro's control. THe U.S. wanted to provide aid but instead got into a fued, and Kennedy sent over 5,000 troops and 50 lanes to respond to a communist attack. We didnt want to be involved anymore and finally signed a neutrality aggreement. this leads to the Americans finding of missiles in Cuba. i would give this a 4 becasue the Soviets werent involved but the U.S. was close to land and something couldve broken out but nothing did. -
Cuban Missile Crisis Continued
i would give this event a 9 because although we didnt go into full out war we came very close with the threats of nuclear weapons being used. -

Removal of Nuclear Missiles
Reagan and Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev resolve to remove all intermediate nuclar missiles from Europe. General Secretary Mikhail Gorbachev announced the Soviet proposal for a ban of all nuclear weapons. The U.S. dismissed this but got rid of some of their launchers in Europe. The communist party in East Berlin announced that they had a change in relations with the West. East and West Berlin citizens went to the wall on Novenber 9 drinking beer and champagne to see the destruction of the wall. End of the Soviet Union, Cold War ends
The Sovet Union over the time of the Cold War was discinigrating, and their communist government was coming to an end. the negative aspects of life in the Soviet Union were brought out, this tarnished the COmmunist Partys power base. the upheaval in Eastern Europe spread within the USSR.Their government lost control on econmic conditions, and because of all the problems within the government, the war ends I would give this a 1 because this was the end of the war and Soviet Union was banishing.
