The Classical Period of ancient Greece was a time when the Greeks achieved new heights in art, architecture, theater, and philosophy. Democracy in Athens was refined under the leadership of Pericles. -
THE AGE OF ENLIGHTENMENT
Was a reformist movement of the 18th century that defended the
use of the “light” of reason to transform society, the natural rights of humans and tolerance
as a basis for coexistence. -
THE FIRST INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION
Society at the beginning of the 18th century was still essentially based on agriculture
and livestock. But halfway through this century, in Europe, the First Industrial Revolution.
New sources of energy appeared. Machinery started to be used in textile production and
agriculture, as well as to transport goods, and work started to be organized in a different
way. All of these factors started to be organized in a different way. -
THE ARTS
The period that we know as the Classical period in music is called Neoclassicism in
the rest of the arts. This artistic movement was a reaction to the excesses of the Baroque
period. It was inspired by the more restrained models of the classical world and defended
the use of reason as a tool to achieve balance and beauty.
Music was mainly developed by the bourgeoisie, who gave greater freedom to
composers and tried to impress their audiences with balanced, clear and elegant
compositions.
