President Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation that stated that as of Jan. 1 1863 it would free slaves in the rebelling Confederate areas. -
Morgan's Raid
John Hunt Morgan, a Confederate general stole Hoosier supplies and burnt bown biuldings. -
Surrender
The Confederate army was hopelessly outnumbered and were forced to surrender.
