They were trying to supply African Americans. They were defeated.

He went in at a time when states started to succeed.

South Carolina secedes from the Union

First state to succeed for the Union. Marked the first act of war officially.Elected Jefferson Davis as President. Called themselves The Confederate states of America.

Battle at Fort Sumter

Union troops surrendered. Confederates held onto the fort until the end of the Civil War. Happened at the Harbor of Charleston.

Battle of Bull Run

Jul 21, 1861

The Union lost. The Union replaced there general.

Battle of Gettysburg

Jul 1, 1863

Considered the most important war of the Civil War.
