Montgomery Bus Boycotts

Little Rock Nine
In september of 1957, when 9 black students tried to go to a school in Arkansas, many whites and the Arkansas National Guard made threats of lynching them, until President Eisenhower stepped in and had an intervention, allowing them to return to school threat free. -
Sit Ins Begin
Four black students from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical College sit in at a restaruant and are refused service, however they allowed to sit. This is called a sit in, and it is so effective that six months later, the same students are served lunch at the same restaurant. This is a nonviolence approach. -
