    Magnifying Glass

    The magnifying glass was invented by Roger Bacon. He adapted it's use as primitive specticles, to allow ageing scholars to continue their work. This invention led to the later invention of the microscope, intern to the cell theory.

    Andreas Vesalius

    Reffered to as the founder of modern anatomy, he was an anatomist, phsician, and author. He wrote a book reffered to as the Fabrica, which is considered to be the most famous book on anatomy and was the first anatomy book to be reasonalbly accurate.
  • Microscope

    The microscope was created by Hans and Zacarius Janssen had created a microscope based on a lens in a tube. But it was later developed to be a more sophisicated scietific instrument.
  • Robert Hooke

    Using a microscope, he was the first to visualize a micro-organism, also discoveering the cell. He coined the term "cell" for the box-shaped structures that he saw. This was the start of the cell theory
  • Marcello Malphigi

    He was an italian biologist and physician and he discovered the invisible world of the human body and plants by studying tissues under a microscope and was the first to discover red blood cells.
  • Anton van Leeuwenhoek

    Known as the Father of microbiology, he was the first to make observations of bacteria and protazoa, and studied the structure of many materials such as wood and crystal. He also made over 500 microscopes.
  • Jean Baptiste de Lamarck

    He is known for his ideas called Lamarckian, which challanges gentics and evolution ideas of todays world. He was also one of the first to use the term "biology" in his publication.

    He is best known for his discription of cell nucei and thier purpose and he also developeded the Browian motion, which states the finding of continuous motion of minute particles in solution.
  • Thoedor Schwann

    He was a German physician and physiologist and is most known for his contribution to the cell theory by extending it to animals. He proposed the Unified Cell theory by studying tissues.
  • Mattias Schleiden

    He worked along with Theodor Schwann and was a German botanist and co-founder of the Unified Cell theory. The theory states that: All living things are made of cells, cells are a basic unit of life, and they come about through existing cells.
  • Louis Pasteur

    He disproved spontainious generation. He was also the first scientist to prove cells can only form from pre-existing cells. He did this through an experiment where he showed that cells woild only grow in broth if air was exposed.
  • Rudolf Virchow

    He was a German physician, arthropaologist, pathologist, prehistorian, biologist, writer, and more. His most noteworthy accomplishment was his observation that a whole organism is never sick, but only cells or groups of them. He also published a famous aphourism called, every cell stems from another cell.
