    The British and French fought for the Ohio river valley because the wanted the fertile land and the good fur trade.

    The Proclamation of 1763
    After the war Britain had a lot of land and the Indians where mad because they had no land so, the king declared that they cannot cross the Appalachian mountains.
  • The Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act
    Description: The British Parliament passed the Sugar Act in 1764 in order to help pay for their debt from the French and Indian War as well as to pay for the troops guarding the Proclamation Line of 1763. It forced the colonists to pay a 3 cent tax on goods like sugar, coffee, indigo and certain kinds of alcohol. The colonists were not happy with this law because they had no say in parliament. The slogan “No Taxation without Representation” became popular in the colonies.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
    The British Parliament passed the Stamp Act in 165 in order to support the British soldiers protecting the Proclamation Line. The Stamp Act required that a stamp purchased by the British government had to be placed on all important documents like court papers, newspapers and even playing cards. The colonists were outraged because they were paying for troops that were keeping them out of the land they had just fought for.

    A well-organized political organization shrouded in secrecy that was established to undermine British rule in colonial America. This group sprang up in port cities like Boston and NYC. Group member were men from all walks of life, and they were known to be hot headed and violent.
  • Townsend acts

    Townsend acts
    The Townsend Acts taxed imported items such as paper, glass, paint and tea. The English Parliament passed this act to cover costs of the French and Indian War, as well as to show that they still had power over the colonies. The colonists were outraged with this act so they held public demonstrations, boycotted products and smuggled in goods. Parliament eventually decided to repeal this act because of colonial protests.
  • The Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre
    On March 5 1770 there was a violent confrontation between the British soldiers and the colonists in Boston and colonists. The British soldiers were brought to trial and found not guilty. The sons of liberty on the other hand spreaded propaganda about the Boston massacre and some believe them.
  • The Tea Act

    The Tea Act
    This new tax law was not designed to raise taxes in the colonies. The tea act was created to help the East India company because they had a difficulty financially and had 10 million pounds of tea to sell so they taxed the tea. To protest NY and PA both refused to take in the ships so they were sent back to England. In Charalstion they left the tea out to rot. Others just refused to pay the taxes.

    60 men dressed as Indians (to not show their identity) came to a ship and dumped all of the tea off. No people were harmed by the men they just dumped of the tea.

    4 laws were passed by the king, like the Boston harbor closed, there where only trials for British soldiers in Britain, British soldiers where to rest in a colonist house and no one's property was safe, and in Massachusetts the government was changed without voting. The colonists were furious with the British and the first continental congress was made.

    Men from all of the 13 colonies (except Georgia), was put in a meeting to make a petition to send to the king saying they were still loyal but they did not agree with the laws. If the king did not lift the laws then war would happen.
  • The battles of Lexington and concord

    The battles of Lexington and concord
    The British army had moved to Lexington, steal military supplies and to arrest some rebel leaders. The rebels hid their supplies and fought back at Lexington. Sadly, the rebels lost and the British found no supplies and burned the fort to the ground. Heading back to Boston They were attacked at concord by the rebels and won! But the revolution has only begun...
