Though living things consume carbon its also comes out the poop or puke contains carbons which is transfered intothe ground -

When living organisms decompose the carbons from their body also returns into the ground and onto the roots of plants waiting to be released back into the atmosphere. -

The bones of the dead organisms are then turned into fossil fuels. -

Those fossil fuels are then burnt and tured into gas and other things in factories -
Final
Then the carbon from the burning fossil fuel is brought back inro the atmosphere
