The Browns and the slaves
The browns family first known involvement with slaves. Their father, Captain James Brown sent a ship to Africa to trade to get slaves. -

Nicholas and John joined their Uncle Obadiah and other Providence in outfitting the ship. -
Nicholas Brown sent ships to Caribbean
Nicholas Brown set three ships to meet up at the Caribbean. Two ships were sent to horses and other goods. The third was the "Sally", which was sent to recieve slaves. -
Captain Hopkins arrives in West Africa
Captain Hoplins arrived on what is now the coast of Guinea. He made some visits to the African leaders in order to develop a better relationship, which in time would make it easier to recieve slaves. He traded with merchants in the area. He sold slaves sometimes -
Captain Hopkins bought his last slaves.
Captain Hopkins had purchased his last group of slaves. He had sold nine slaves to traders on the coast. -
The slaves suffer
On the eight day on the sea, twenty of the slaves had died. A woman hang herself. Then the slaves rose in rebellion. Hopkins and the crew stopped them down by killing eight of them and injuring others. -
The lose
Of all the slaves on "The Sally", 88 of them died from suicide, starving themselves, illness, and the rebellion acts. When they became sick, many were thrown overboard by the crew and were eventually eaten by sharks or drowned.
