He was to sell them and then return to Providence. The Sally left Newport for africa. -
The Arrival.
Captain Hopkins and the sally arrived in West Africa. For nine months Hopkins sailed along the Afican coastline, complaining in his log book of the competition for slaves. -
Captain Hopkins
Captain Hopkins purchased 196 slaves, nine whom he had sold to other trades on the coast, but was a pretty disapointing trip overral becuase it was very few who made it across. -
Rebellion
On the eighth day out thee slaves rose in a rebellion which was a very bad day, because they had to kill eight and wounding several others. -
A note from the Brown's.
As finally the trip is now over, the Brown's Brothers send a note to Esek Hopkins, saying how disagreeable it is losing 88 slaves and the crew members but they do still thank him and end it by saying "remain cheerful."
