    The Sugar Act
    To stop the colonists from smuggling sugar into the colonies, the British passed the Sugar Act. It stated you could only buy sugar from Great Britain. And that being said, the sugar was very high priced and if you were caught you would be sued, highly shamed by the British, and in some extremes put to death.

  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
    To tax the colonists and make it "fair" since the British had been paying taxes for years, the British made the Stamp Act. It stated that anything made of paper had to have an official stamp to make it Legal. Some of these things included dice, paper, playing cards, (etc.).
  • The Quartering Act

    The Quartering Act
    The British wanted to protect their interest, to help this be put into action, the British army was sent to watch the colonists. The price to pay for the colonists was that a quarter of there pay was sent to the soldiers that were watching them. This ended with many protesters and riots which later ended the act with a start of another act.
  • The Townsend Act

    The Townsend Act
    To stop any imported goods in the Colonies, the British made the Townshend Act. The act made it possible for the British soldiers to barge into houses looking for smuggling goods no matter what. The soldiers went into houses, trashed the house and if they didn't find anything illegal they would leave the house torn apart. If they did they would find the person and arrest them without any further examination. Some of the smuggled items included paint, glass, paper and tea.

    The colonists were buying an smuggling in tea from countries, which made the East India Tea company loose a lot of there customers. Parliament wanted to get the East India Company out of Bankruptcy. so they taxed the colonists heavily for the tea bought by the British in the colonies and the shipment of the colonies too.

    Coercive/ Intolerable Acts: Boston Port Act
    Lord Oliver North wanted to punish the Colonists for there actions against the British. The act was passed to ensure the colonists they stayed put in the colonists and watched the trade in and out of the ports. The act stated that the colonists can't go onto the bay port or enter the British vessels, they had to stay in the colonies and not return to Britain.

    Coercive/ Intolerable Acts: MA Government Act an the Administration of Justice Act
    The British were losing control of the colonies as the colonists were starting to form there own government. The act stated that anyone found in the colonies who were fighting against the British or forming a law system of some sort would be sued, taken away from there land, Killed (etc.). The British were taking extreme precautions of the colonists to make sure not to lose any more land and to show the colonists that they were still in control.

    Coercive/ Intolerable Acts: Quebec Act
    The Quebec Act was passed not only to expand the land of the British but to also keep the religious faiths of the British king and people. The Act stated that England shall run certain territories that the colonists gain. This is why the colonists called these last 3 acts the "Intolerable Acts".
