Monmouth Rebellion
Daniel fought with the Duke of Monmouth against the catholic James II
In 1685 he led the unsuccessful Monmouth Rebellion, an attempt to depose his uncle, King James II and VII. Declaring himself the legitimate King, Monmouth attempted to capitalise on his position as the son of Charles II, and his Protestantism, in opposition to James, who was a Roman Catholic. The rebellion failed, and Monmouth was beheaded for treason on 15 July 1685. -

Because of his pamphlet of 1702 and its irony towrds religion he was arrested. He was punished in pillory on 29,30,31 July 1703
He spent some time also in the jail of Newgate. He was arrested at least 7 times during his live because of his activity of pamphleter and collaborator with the Government. -
