The Sugar Act
Parliament passes the Sugar Act. The Sugar Act put an import tax on products such as sugar coffee and molasses. -
The Stamp Act
Parliament passes the Stamp Act. The Stamp Act requires the the colonists to buy special tax stamps for any important documents such as, newspapers, licenses and ships papers. -
The Quartering Act
Parliament passes the Quartering Act which forces colonists to house British soldiers and provide them with food and other supplies. -
The Boston Massacare
A group of colonists harass a small group of British soldiers. The soldiers are frightened and fire into the crowd killing five and wounding six. -
The Battle of Alamance
Governor William Tryon gathers militia from across the coastal plains in hopes of fighting against the Regulators, a group of colonists fighting against the taxing system. They gathered at Alamance Creek and fought for a few hours until the Regulators dispersed -
The Tea Act/ The Boston Tea Party
Parliament passes the Tea Act allowing a monopoly on all Tea imported into the colonies. In protest a group of colonists, called the Sons of Liberty, dress up as Native Americans and dump all of the tea from the ship into the harbor. -
The Intolerable Acts
Parliament passes the Intolerable Acts in response to the Boston Tea Party. These five laws cause uproar among the colonists. -
Fighting at Lexington and Concord
After many years of tension the colonists fight back against the British.
