Election of 1860
The winner of the Election of 1860 was Abraham Lincoln. He was an abolitionist and a republican. The South Seceeds
After Abraham Lincoln was elected president. many of the states in the South, but still in the Union, seceeded from the Union. These states included South Carolina, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas. www.pbs.org -
1st Meeting of the Confederacy
On February 4, 1861 the seceeding states came to Montgomery, Alabama where they named themselves the Confederate States of America, or the Confederacy, and elected Jefferson Davis as their president. They also wrote a constitution. www.pbs.org -
