    The floppy disk was originally invented in the 1970's, but with everyone making their own machines, the floppy was far from standard. Sony introduced the 3.5 inch floppy disk in 1981 and with the help of Captain Kirk, spent two years making it the industry standard. This allowed people to buy a floppy disk and use it in any machine, no matter the manufacture.
  • Star Trek II – The Wrath of Khan

    Star Trek II – The Wrath of Khan
    The Genesis Effect scene is created for Star Trek - The Wrath of Khan. Coming in at a little over a minute of air time, this animation took years for lucasfilm to produce on a DEC VAX computer and an Evans and Sutherland Picture System. This was one of the first computer generated special effects of it's time.
