Pope Pius XII
Pope Pius XII instituted less harsh fasting, and started evening Masses. He instituted Humanae Vitae which discusses married life, natural law, and controversial issues regarding procreation. He tried to address people of all faiths, and so there were much more non- Catholics visiting the Vatican. Pope John XXIII
Pope John XXIII instituted the Second Vatican Council which was a turning point in history for the Catholic Church. He broke the traditional view of the Pope. He did not always eat alone or be officially escorted to the streets as the previous Pope's had. Second Vatican Council
Second Vatican Council was instituted ed by Pope John the 23rd and it discussed Revelation, Sacred Scripture, the Old Testament, and New Testament. It discussed how the writers of the Bible were not just writing on their own, but were inspired by the Holy Spirit Himself. Info:

Pope Paul VI
Pope Paul VI reached out in to those who were of other faiths than just Catholicism. While doing this he still deeply expressed the importance of doctrine, and not for it to be taken lightly because of the subject of unity. He wrote five major encylicals including Ecclesiam Suam, which discussed the importance of speaking non-Catholics about their religions and the Catholic faith.

John Paul II
Pope John Paul II was widely loved, and still continues to be throughout history. He traveled to amen different places spreading joy and the word of God. He was very enthusiastic about the topic of Divine Mercy and St. Maria Faustina, and actually died on the day of Divine Mercy Sunday.

Pope Benedict XVI
Pope Benedict XVI spoke visited the United States and talked about the need for the end of sexual abuse within clergy. In order to promote unity of peoples, he addressed the new Catholic-Muslim Forum. He was the first Pope to reign and did so on February 26, 2013. Pope Francis
Pope Francis' philosophy is about spreading peace among all peoples. He is an advocate for mercy and even named Dec 2015-November 2016 the year of mercy. Canonization of John Paul II & John XXIII
The canonization of both Pope John Paul II and Pope John XXIII were on the same day, those these Popes were so different from one another. Pope Francis discussed on their canonization day how they both had to live in very difficult times, but they were able to keep their trust in God stronger than any problems the world faced.
