-Both built up huge arsenals of weapons
-Americans placed nuclear missiles in Turkey aimed at Moscow
-Russians were building nuclear missile launch pads in Cuba aimed at US
-Cubans believed that America was planning to attack the island
-The Cuban government asked Russia to help them by sending military aid. -
