Thanks to Life's Teachers

  • Happy Birthday

    Happy Birthday
On this day two lucky parents were blessed with a gifted child by the name of Craig Felix Hartaway.
  • More Than A Game

    More Than A Game
Shots ring out as two cars are engaged in a gunfight outside of Stephens Elementary in Little Rock, Arkansas. As teachers shout for children to get down to their bellies and crawl towards the building I remember it feeling like a game. It was typical of the violence in Little Rock at this time.
  • Pumpkin Patch Trip with my Mema

Pumpkin Patch Trip with my Mema
It is just a beatiful reminder of the impact you can have on a child by just taking time with them. It was a memory that I won't forget, even though I only remember it because she came and spent time with me alone out of all of her grandchildren. I treasure it as a memory that only we share.
  • Meeting Mrs. Hill My 1st Grade Teacher

Meeting Mrs. Hill My 1st Grade Teacher
I love this lady. A woman who inspired and showed genuine love to all children she was entrusted to look after. I always view her fondly for the character she posessed and the positive environment that she fostered in order for her students to flourish.
  • Hawgs Win Championship

    Hawgs Win Championship
Nolan Richardson becomes a champion. This victory was one of the crowning achievements in Arkansas history. With the President Bill Clinton watching it was a great time to be an Arkansan. The coolest President since Kennedy and the best program in the country left us with our chest poked out and heads held high.
  • Meeting Mrs. O'Dell

    Meeting Mrs. O'Dell
This lovely little woman was feisty and definitely a strong personality. I was in trouble nearly every day but she made me feel like I was capable of becoming anything and going anywhere in life. She is one of the greatest inspirations in my life.
  • Shooting Comes Close to Home

    Shooting Comes Close to Home
It never seemed as if it could happen to us, not to Arkansas. But, the events of March 24th changed life forever. With the ambush on unsuspecting students leaving five dead and others injured. Jonesboro, Arkansas and the entire state was rocked and forever changed.
  • Leaving For Bootcamp

Recruit training command Great Lakes, IL was one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of my life. I found that I could be faster, stronger, and more mentally tough than I thought possible, and it would only be the beginning of challenges posed by a military career.
  • Graduation from Nuclear Power School

Finally completing the most rigorous academic schedule and curriculum I had ever encountered, I began to suffer from mental fatigue and academic burnout. The positives that later would benefit my life came in my inability to give up and a stronger resolve to push through any obstacles I faced.
  • Meeting Dr. Kleine

    Meeting Dr. Kleine
This man saved me from quitting college. I was so lost following my discharge from the military and I felt like giving up, but his openness and ability to connect and show empathy towards me changed my outlook on life. He is my favorite teacher of all times and one of my favorite people I have ever encountered in life.
  • Learning Success Requires Disappointment

    Learning Success Requires Disappointment
Ledbetter... a name that rings as loudly in my ears as bombs dropping on victims of Hiroshima. Recieving an assignment attempting to resolve a debate between science and religion "it stated that religion has been the invariable loser", it went on to publicize almost propaganda like ideas. This assignment gave me the option to regurgitate ficitious ideas to satisfy a grade or stand for something and I chose the latter.
