while the texas army was busy in san antonio they wanted to make a new government including, Henry Smith as the new governor and Sam Houston in command of the army many people were happy with this change and were confident of defeating th mexican army -
The Alamo
Sam Houston had lead his army to the Alamo, that had fought and had not surrenderd, a lot of men were lost in the battle and almost nobody survived. The men that were still alive had not forgotten the fight at the Alamo. And had used that fight as a chant for the next battle to remind them and show no mercy. -

The soldiers who were still alive had remembered that the battle was not something to be sad about. it was about remembering that they can beat the Mexican army in the next battle. They kept a battle cry ‘’ Remember the Alamo’’ -

the last battle of the Revoloution was the battle of San jacinto, which was a very short one and had wounded Santa Anna and was captured. He was forced to sign the treaty of Guadalupe of Hidalgo which meant that Texas was it is own country which was good and bad at the same time. -

The treaty was called the treaty of Guadalupe of Hidalgo, which meant that Texas could be it’s own country which was good at first and then ran into some problems. -
A few changes
A few changes occurred when Texas became it’s own country, The army leader Sam Houston had become the first president of Texas and Mirabeau Lamar was vice president for Texas. The country had struggled because the government had to pay for the war so that meant they had to raise taxes. That was a risk for small businesses though which lead to some conflict. -
No choice
The Republic of Texas was not doing well as a country and wanted to join the united states because they were already a well-going country and had more defense and more land than the Republic of Texas so basically becoming a state was the only choice. -
Mexican-American war
Once Texas became a state the Mexicans got mad even though the president of America offered three million dollars to buy land to Mexico, but they did not accept. And Mexicans started the Mexican-American war.
