Discovery of Texas
Mexico gains independence from Spain. They send Moses Austin to find new land. He finds what he called Tejas and his son Stephen Austin settles there with 300 families. -
Mexico and Texas conflict
The settlers in Texas did not want to embrace their new Mexican identity. Settlers did not see themselves as part of the Mexican nation. On the contrary, they referred to themselves as "Texans." Mexico feared that they would lose control of the state and encouraged more migration. -
Ban of Migration
Due to fear of losing control of Texas. Mexico banned Texas settlers to migrate further into the United States. Added more military presence and slavery banned. -
Santa Anna for President
Santa Anna becomes president of Mexico. In this Santa Anna did not agree that Texas be self-ruled and planned on changing it. Texans such as Stephen Austin drafted a proposal and presented it to Santa Anna to allow migration. Austin was imprisoned in Mexico which led to conflict. -
1st step of the Revolution
The tension between Mexico and Texas grew. This led Colonel John H. Moore to bring a cannon and shots fired. This first fight led to the beginning of the revolution. -
Fall of Alamo
Santa Anna led an attack on Texans that found shelter in the Alamo. Texas fought against the Mexican army with a lack of an army. In this Mexican army won the battle. Many Texans died in the Alamo and the others were captured by the army. -
Texas declares Independence
Texans drafted the Texas declaration of independence. And the Texas constitution was well drafted. -
Texas Independence & Battle of San Jancinto
Texas seeks out independece from Mexico. Texans travel to the San Jancinto and Houston declares an attack on the Mexican army. In this battle, Santa Anna was captured and Texas became a republic -

Texas adopts its state flag. The flag consists of one star. -
Texas enters the U.S.
Texas was annexed into the United States after 10 years of independence.
