The amendment that banned the production and sale of alchohol in 1920. The demodratic party was split into for and against the prohibition. The amendment won enough support to be passed. -

The amendment that gave woman sufferage. The Texas legislation ratified the amendment in June 1919. The amendment was ratified rationally in 1920 -

The first woman in Texas to be elected into office as a governor. She was a controversial governor, who did little for education. She also gave highway department contracts to friends instead of the lowest bidder. -

In October 1929, a panic in the New YOrk Stock Exchange led to a crash in the stock market. People who invested money into stocks were left with nothing, and could not repay loans. Case that declared separate education facilities as unequal. It was a victory for minority groups and agered mayn Texas. A mob formed around the school in protest and the Texas legislature kep segragation until the 1960s. -
Presidental election
John F. Kennedy was elected in 1960 and believed the United States was on the eddge of the "New Frontier". He planned to cut taxes, as well as other national problems After Kennedy's death, Lyndon B. Johnson was elected. -
Henry B. Gonzales
Democrat Henry Gonzales became the first Mexican American elected in the Texas Senate. IN 1961 he was elected into the House of Representatives, where he served for 37 years. He also became the chairman of the Banking Committee in 1988. -
Assassination in Dallas - Texan in D.C.
On November 22, John F. Kennedy and the Texas governor were shot in Dallas. Lyndon was sworn in as the new president. John F. Kennedy died later that day. -

Congress passed the Civil Rights Act of 1964 that banned the segregation in public places. The act barred groups with contracts discriminating in race,sex,religion, or national origin. In 2000, George W. Bush ran a close race between Al Gore and Bush won the electoral votes in Florida, winning the election. Many Democrats wanted a recount due to the closeness of the race. Republicans argued that recounts were unfair and on December 12, the Supreme Court agreed saying recounts in some conties were unfair. Bush was sworn in on January 20, 2001 -
911 Terrorist attack upon US
On September 11, a highjacked plane crashed into the north tower of the World Trade Center at 8:48 A.M. Then a second plane crashed into the south tower with a thrid hitting the west side of the Pentagon. Many Americans responded to the attacks by donating food and supplies.
