Battle of Gonzales
It was the first battle in the Texas Revolution. The Texans had a cannon, but the Mexicans didn't want them to have. So they fought for the cannon. In the end the Texans won and they got to keep their cannon. -
Siege of Bexar
New Texas Republican Army marched on San Antonio de Bexar in late October 1835. Texas succeeded in their siege and took San Antonio de Bexar on December 9, 1835. Santa Anna was mad that they lost San Antonio de Bexar he sent an army to attack. Sam Houston ordered the people in San Antonio to abandon the town. -
Decree of Dec. 30, 1835
The feelings of the U.S. were that the Mexican government was well within their rights to punish the Texans for rebelling. After Santa Anna heard about the American government's feelings, he urged the Mexican congress to pass the Decree of December 30, 1835. This declared that all foreigners who take up arms against the Mexican government will be treated as pirates and shot. -
Battle of the Alamo
The Mexicans wanted to take a former Mexican garrison known as the Alamo. The Mexicans greatly outnumbered the Texans and easily won. After the Texans lost, more volunteers joined the movement inspired by the phrase, "Remember the Alamo." -
Battle of Coleto Creek
The Texans were stuck in a prairie because their oxen had to graze. The Mexicans surrounded them from all sides. The Texans had no choice but to surrender due to being outnumbered and unprepared. -
Goliad Massacre
The Texans from the Battle of Coleto Creek were executed. Fannin had three wishes before he died, but the Mexicans did the opposite. On June 3rd, Thomas J. Rusk found their bodies and gave them a proper burial.
